Scientific Name: Acer rubrum

Description

Red Maple tends to be heavier and stronger than other Soft Maple species. This specific Maple works well with hand and machine tools and is often used for sporting goods, cabinetry, and furniture. Sapwood is a distinctive creamy white color in comparison to the reddish-brown heartwood. Insect damage can leave holes with surrounding discolored areas; this is often called Wormy or Ambrosia Maple
