Red Maple
Red Maple tends to be heavier and stronger than other Soft Maple species. This specific Maple works well with hand and machine tools and is often used for sporting goods, cabinetry, and furniture. Sapwood is a distinctive creamy white color in comparison to the reddish-brown heartwood. Insect damage can leave holes with surrounding discolored areas; this is often called Wormy or Ambrosia Maple.

Red Oaks
The Red Oak species depicts a heartwood that is light to medium brown, commonly with a red tint. Sapwood is often indistinguishable from the heartwood. The species is most often used for cabinetry, furniture, trim-work and flooring. Red Oak has the tendency to react with iron which causes staining and discoloration.

White Oak
White Oak typically displays heartwood of a light/medium brown which often has an olive tint to it .Prominent through the Eastern United States, White Oak maintains its best growth in deep, well-drained soils.The species is straight-grained and known for its durability. Responding well to glues, stains, and finishes, White Oak is most commonly used for cabinetry, furniture building, trim-work, flooring, and boat building.

White Ash
A native tree of Virginia, Ash is common across the Eastern portion of North America. White Ash heartwood is a light brown and the sapwood is similarly colored, often masking a visible distinction between the two. The species is known for its toughness as well as its elasticity. Common applications include interior paneling, furniture building, baseball bats, and oars.
