Nancy Tuck is the second-generation owner and current chief executive officer of family-owned Gates Custom Milling, Inc. In addition to her role as CEO, Nancy manages sales and customer relations.
Nancy joined the family business in 1992 to handle administration, marketing and finance. Early on, she automated Gates’ financial systems, transitioning the company from ledger books to digital records. Since joining the company, Nancy’s dedication to Gates’ customers and her ability to forecast their needs has become a tremendous asset to the team. She leads with a kind of energy that drives Gates’ success and growth. Her involvement in the industry also makes Nancy an asset to the Gates team. In 2009, she served as president of the Southern Cypress Manufacturer’s Association.
Prior to joining the family business, Nancy had a successful career in banking, working as a retail branch manager and a commercial loan officer. This background in finance made her an advantageous addition to the Gates team. Nancy graduated from Radford University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance.
Having nearly 35 years of experience with the company, Mark Tuck serves as owner and president of Gates Milling, Inc. Mark joined the company in 1988 as vice president and has taken a hands-on approach to the mill’s operations ever since. Over the years, he guided the company’s expansion from a planer mill to a fully integrated sawmill operation. As the business expanded, Mark ensured that new additions to the operations team were experienced and able to grow with the company.
Prior to joining Gates, Mark worked in sales. He graduated from Radford University in 1985 with a degree in business administration and a specialization in marketing and mathematics.
